“One of the greatest pleasures I find in the arts is to be astonished at human ability...Such a spectacle of gratuitous talent incites me, not only to praise the artist, but to praise God for giving such ability to human beings.” Gene Veith, State of the Arts

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!!!

Most of you will probably not even read this part...you are already looking to find your name. Nonetheless, I must say that the decision was difficult (Especially with 54 passionate students auditioning for a play with a cast of 15). For you 39 who did not receive a part, please don't give up! Hopefully I will see you at the auditions for the Spring production of...ha, ha, ha (evil laugh)! Don't worry you will find out as soon as I figure it out. Okay, so on with the cast list ALREADY!!!!

Edwin (Papa) - Greg Keathley
Pearl (Mother) - Victoria McCabe
Hugh - Samuel Hoyt
Cecil - Jacob Black
Raybon - Mark Elliot
Jannette - Amy Dwyer
Edd - Tim Martin
Alyene - Morgan Willis
Helen - Sara Miller
Lucy - Lindsey Brewer
Jenny - Jena Carper
Jeffrey - Andrew Layden
Miss Jonas - Caroline Conner
Bride - Andrea Hall
Groom - Zach Stover

Just a reminder: We will have out first read-through Tuesday, September 5th from 3:15 - 4:30. Please bring your calendars so that we can predetermine what conflicts you might have with the upcoming rehearsals. Thanks, and I'll see you there!

INTRODUCING...

Greetings and welcome the the official unofficial MVCS Theatre blog! My hope is to provide folks with information about the Theatre department from time to time. By next week, I will have a new cast posted here for our upcoming production of "Papa was a Preacher," by Alyene Porter. The dates for the production are Nov. 2-4. It is a few weeks earlier than last year, so we need to get rolling! Auditions will be this week! Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5. If you have any sort of acting desire, come on by! If you would like more information on the play, click here. If you are looking for more information on the web, good luck! There is not much out there that I could find. Apparently, there is a movie made in the 80's that is loosely taken from this story, but it is nothing like the play.

I am very excited about it. There are some very funny moments and some very tender moments as well. I think it is a great fit for MVCS and am looking forward to seeing many at the auditions this week!

Let me (Mr. Madden) know if you have any ideas of what to include on this site. It is pretty bare at the moment.
