“One of the greatest pleasures I find in the arts is to be astonished at human ability...Such a spectacle of gratuitous talent incites me, not only to praise the artist, but to praise God for giving such ability to human beings.” Gene Veith, State of the Arts

Father of the Bride Auditions

After reading too many scripts, I have finally decided on "Father of the Bride" by Caroline Francke for our upcoming fall play. The play is scheduled for November 8-10th and will be at the school as have our past fall plays been.

SYNOPSIS: If you've seen the 1991 movie starring Steve Martin, you've got the general idea. The script was written a good 40 years prior to that movie, but it follows the same story - Daddy's little girls (now in her 20's) decides to get married and wants a "small" wedding. The wedding keeps getting bigger, the wedding planner is a fruit cake, and dad freaks out. The story line was originally a 1949 best-selling novel by Edward Streeter. Your parents might recall the 1950 movie adaptation, starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor.

CAST and CREW:
Mr. Banks - Father of the bride. (M, 40s-early 50s)
Mrs. Banks - Mother of the bride. (F, 40s)

Auditions are open to all high school students. They will be held on Aug. 29-30th from 3-5pm in my room. If you are interested in any crew position, please attend either audition date for the first 10 minutes. If you are wanting to be an actor, you need only to audition ONE day. Coming back for a secon day does not increase your chances of getting a part. The auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

I look forward to seeing you all at the auditions!
