“One of the greatest pleasures I find in the arts is to be astonished at human ability...Such a spectacle of gratuitous talent incites me, not only to praise the artist, but to praise God for giving such ability to human beings.” Gene Veith, State of the Arts

The Miracle Worker Auditions

The Fall play for Mingo Valley Christian School will be "The Miracle Worker."  This story of Helen Keller and her instructor Anne Sullivan was performed at Mingo 10 years ago and it is now time for its resurrection. The cast includes 5 male characters and 10-12 female characters.  Auditions are open for all secondary students this Fall!  Auditions will be Sept. 1&2 from 3:30-5:30 in Mr. Madden's room.  You do not need to come to both days.  During the audition, you will be performing from various short scenes in the script.  I will try to have these available to pick up by August 27.
You may read portions of the script and see the cast list here at google books. For a little more background on the play go here.  Looking forward to another great Fall play!  I hope to see many of you at the auditions! If you have any questions please don't be afraid to ask.

Meet Me in St. Louis Auditions
The time has come for the auditions for our spring music! We are putting on "Meet Me in Saint Louis" on April 15th-17th! This show is a lot of fun and I hope to see many at the auditions. If you are unfamiliar with the show, you can read the synopsis here. You may also listen to music samples on Rhapsody. There are 5 male roles (possibly 7) and 8 female speaking roles, along with a chorus of about a dozen. If you intend on auditioning, you must attend at least one of the music workshops with Mrs. Selby. The workshops will be afterschool from 3:10-3:30 on January 11th and January 12th. There will also be one held during lunch on January 13th. You are welcome to come to all of the workshops. You will be learning the music with which you will be auditioning. Rather than each person selecting his/her own piece of music, each student will audition with an assigned song. The actual auditions will be held on January 13th-14th from 3pm-5:30pm in Mr. Madden's room. During the audition you will individually sing the assigned song. Please sign up for a musical audition time slot on the sheet posted by Mrs. Selby's room. You will also be performing readings from the script. You need only to attend one of the audition dates. Attending both does not increase your odds of recieving a part. If you have any other questions, ask Mr. Madden. I hope to see you at the audition!
