“One of the greatest pleasures I find in the arts is to be astonished at human ability...Such a spectacle of gratuitous talent incites me, not only to praise the artist, but to praise God for giving such ability to human beings.” Gene Veith, State of the Arts

You Can't Take It with You
AUDITIONS

It’s that time again - time to dust of your acting skills and get ready to audition for Mingo’s fall play, “You Can’t Take It with You”.  Auditions will be Wednesday, August 31 and Thursday, September 1 from 3:10-5:00 in Mr. Madden’s room (218).  At the audition, you will be performing cold reads of short selected scenes from the play.  You only need to attend one day of the auditions.  Auditions are open to all secondary students.  The cast consists of 9 male roles (plus 3 sides that could be either male or female) and 7 female roles.  You can read a breakdown of the show here. I would encourage you all to take a look at the character breakdown before auditions so that you know a little bit about the characters you are portraying.   I’m excited about doing a great classic comedy this fall, and I hope to see many students at the auditions!

CINDERELLA AUDITION UPDATE

Well, this is a first.  We were unable to get in our second day of auditions, so the casting for this show will NOT be finalized this weekend.  Those of you who were scheduled to audition Thursday afternoon will need to make plans to audition on Monday afternoon.  Since there are less than 10 students who still need to audition, we should be done by 3:45pm.  I will have the cast finalized and posted by Monday night so that we can have our first read-through on Tuesday, January 25 from 3:15-5:30.  Sorry about this change of events.  At least now you won't have to sit in front of your computer all weekend hitting the "refresh" button.

Cinderella Auditions
The time has come for the auditions for our spring music! We are putting on "Cinderella" on April 7th-9th! This show is a lot of fun and I hope to see many at the auditions. If you are unfamiliar with the show, you can read the synopsis here (in this link, on the left of the page is more information). And for you guys out there - this is NOT the Disney version.  I know it is still Cinderella, but I think you will find the show quite humorous.  There are 2 lead male roles and 6 lead female roles, along with a chorus of about a dozen. If you intend on auditioning, you must attend at least one of the music workshops with Mrs. Selby. The workshops will be afterschool from 3:10-3:30 on January 14, and during lunch on January 18th and 19th. You are welcome to come to all of the workshops. You will be learning the music with which you will be auditioning. Rather than each person selecting his/her own piece of music, each student will audition with the assigned song, "Ten Minutes Ago". The actual auditions will be held on January 19th-20th from 3pm-5:30pm in Mr. Madden's room. During the audition you will individually sing the assigned song. Please sign up for a musical audition time slot on the sheet posted by Mrs. Selby's room. You will also be performing readings from the script. You need only to attend one of the audition dates. Attending both days does not increase your odds of recieving a part. If you have any other questions, ask Mr. Madden. I hope to see you at the audition!
