The time has come for the
auditions for our spring musical! We are performing "You’re a Good Man,
Charlie Brown" on March 31-April 2! I’m sure everyone is familiar with the
characters, but you might not know much about the musical. You can read about the Broadway version here.
There are 3-4 male roles and 2-3 female roles as well as 20 ensemble
roles. If you intend on auditioning, you
MUST attend at least one of the music workshops with Mrs. Selby. The workshops
will be afterschool from 3:10-3:30 on December 11 or 14, and during lunch on December
14. You are welcome to come to all of the workshops. You will be learning the
music with which you will be auditioning. Rather than each person selecting
his/her own piece of music, each student will audition with the assigned song,
“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
The auditions are open to all
secondary students. They will be held on December 15-16 from 3:10pm-5:30pm in
Mr. Madden's room. During the audition you will individually sing the assigned
song. Please sign up for a musical audition time slot on the sheet posted by
Mrs. Selby's room. You will also be performing cold readings from the
script. You need only to attend one of the audition dates. Attending both days
does not increase your odds of receiving a part.
Please know that if you are cast
in this show, you will be required to attend rehearsals on Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday from 3:30-5:30. If
you know that it will be difficult to commit to those times, it would be best
to not audition at this time. While I do
my best to work with student athletes, it might be too great a commitment for
some to be heavily involved in both extra-curricular events. There will also be a cast fee of $100 for
each person cast in the show.
If you think that acting and
singing is not your thing, we would still love to have you involved. All technical aspects of the show will be
handled by the school’s Tech Team. You
will need to talk with Mr. Kelley if you would like to be a part of that
team. We will also need a stage manager
who is committed to being at every rehearsal to take notes and is able to keep order
back stage during the show. One other
area to help is with gathering props (aka, prop manager). If hunting down hard to find items and
organization is your thing, this is a fun way to help out!
If you have any other questions,
ask Mr. Madden or Mrs. Selby. We hope to see you at auditions!
